THIS ARCHITECT´S FAMILY SMALL-BIG TERRACED HOUSE CAPTIVATES BY ITS SIMPLICITY, DETAILS ELABORATION AND THOUGH-OUT USAGE OF EVERY CENTIMETER OF ITS SPACE.
Behind a short entrance staircase, we enter the ground floor, which is full of light and air thanks to the so-called raum-plan. The ceiling above the ground floor runs at one level, unlike the floor, which gradually lowers from the street / forhaus to the garden. The basilica lighting of the kitchen enhances the space and allows the southern sun rays deep into the building.
Access to other floors is granted by a linear staircase over two floors. Gradually the stairs become narrower and steeper. The ascent to the roof, where we used the miller's stairs, is extreme. All the spaces under and above the stairs are fully used as built-in storage. Glossy white cladding panels are optically interrupted by niches so that the white surfaces form the walls of the room. Thanks to the glossy surface, the space is optically expanded and perfectly illuminated.
The simple interior design supports the concept in a uniform way. Repetitive materials, a uniform floor, white walls are sometimes enlivened by a contrasting niche, a cabinet made of corten sheet imitation in the bathrooms, or an LCD screen embedded in the wall.
The social space naturally continues to the narrow garden in the inner block. It uses the boons such as absolute peace, lots of mature greenery, privacy, sitting in the garden gazebo, which looks like a small wagon that has been disconnected from the mass of the living room. An important element is the surface of the swimming pond, which reflects the sky and the sun into the interior all year round.
